Following his mesmerising performance at Interlagos which saw him claim victory in the Brazilian Grand Prix, Verstappen knows maximum points in Sin City will seal a fourth title with two races on the calendar remaining.

Unlike the campaign before, the Dutchman has been made to dig deep in order to preserve his championship lead in a car that has been inferior to his rivals and Verstappen's showing in Sao Paulo was an apt reminder of his remarkable talent.

Despite having the Drivers' title in the palm of his hands, Verstappen is not the favourite to triumph in Las Vegas and a shootout for the race win is forecast between McLaren and Ferrari.

Charles Leclerc provided great entertainment in the inaugural Las Vegas GP last year as he duelled with Verstappen for victory and the Monegasque will fancy going one better this time around with Ferrari still firmly in the mix for the Constructors' Championship.

Though he still possesses a mathematical chance of winning the title, it feels as though the pressure is off Lando Norris and he will be looking to bounce back from a dismal Brazilian Grand Prix alongside Oscar Piastri in the MCL38.

There was encouragement for Mercedes on Friday as Lewis Hamilton topped the first two practice sessions, though the team conceded they were at a loss to where the pace had emerged from.
