Fury straddles the line between celebrity and boxer having won the reality dating show Love Island in 2019 and is currently 9-0 and as a professional fighter.
Earlier this year, internet personality, Jake Paul attempted to defeat the brother of the lineal heavyweight world champion, but fell short.
Will KSI be able to go one better?
KSI was the catalyst for the meteoric rise of YouTuber boxing.
In August 2017, influencer, Joe Weller and KSI began trading insults on social media platforms. The animosity continued to build as ‘The Nightmare’ released a diss track aimed at his rival.
The pair agreed to face off in an amateur contest which would be broadcast on YouTube.
The fight took place on February 3 2018 at the Copper Box Arena, London. KSI settled the score with a third-round technical knockout.
The bout was reportedly viewed by 20 million people. In the immediate aftermath, the winner called for clash with Logan Paul, his brother Jake and, former footballer, Rio Ferdinand.
Six months on from his victory over Weller, KSI’s wish was granted as he took on, American YouTuber, Logan Paul in an amateur bout, at the Manchester Arena.
The fight was shown live on YouTube Pay-Per-View and attracted an audience of 1.3 million.
The bout was competitive and after six rounds, two of the three judges were unable to split them, with the third scoring in favour of KSI. As a result, the contest was deemed a majority draw.
Given that their first clash sold out the largest indoor venue in Britain and did strong numbers on Pay-Per-View, interest in the rematch was high.
Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport promoted their second encounter, which this time was a professional contest.
The fight took place at Staples Center, Los Angles in November 2019 and was shown on DAZN in North America and on Sky Sports Box Office in the United Kingdom.
Such was the star power of the pair they topped the bill while Billy Joe Saunders defended his WBO super-middleweight title as chief support.
After six hard-fought rounds, KSI was declared he winner via split decision.
In June 2021 it was announced that Wasserman Boxing and KSI had collaborated to establish a promotional company, which they named Misfits Boxing.
The fledgling promoter announced a broadcast deal with DAZN to televise their crossover events, which would feature exhibition contests.
On the inaugural Misfits card, KSI fought two opponents on the same night.
‘The Nightmare’ opened the show against rapper Swarmz, halting the musician in the second round to capture the MF cruiserweight belt.
KSI returned to the ring later that evening to take on Luis Alcaraz Pineda, a Mexican professional boxer with a 2-5 (0 KOs) record.
Once again KSI stopped his opponent, this time in the third frame, to retain his strap.
Earlier this year, KSI faced Joe Fournier. The businessman had won nine professional fights, all coming by way of knockout, but against modest opposition.
Despite having not faced anyone of note, Fournier was inexplicably ranked in the top 15 of the WBA rankings for a period of time.
Fournier had previously tested positive for the prohibited substance sibutramine and received a two-year ban from the National Anti-Doping Organisation Flanders.
Throughout the report issued by NADO Flanders, Fournier was referred to as “the non-elite athlete.”
Despite those damning statements, KSI was determined to defeat a professional fighter with a wining record, after Jake Paul had lost to Tommy Fury, to establish himself as the premier crossover fighter.
Joe Fournier fitted the bill, on paper at least.
In the second round it appeared “The Nightmare” had scored a knockout after his opponent was sent to the canvass and was unable to rise before the referee finished his count.
However, replays showed it was an elbow which had floored Fournier.
Afterwards, Fournier appealed the verdict and the fight was ruled a ‘No Decision.’
Tommy Fury's s net worth is reported to be around £25 million.
KSI fights exclusively on DAZN. ‘The Nightmare’s’ fight against Tommy Fury will be shown live on DAZN Pay-Per-View on October 14th.
Unbeaten professional boxer Viddal Riley, a close friend of KSI's, who fights under the BOXXER banner currently trains the YouTube sensation.
