Chipstead
Manaccan
Highfield Princess @ 5/2
Trainer: John Quinn
Jockey: Jason Hart
This mare enjoyed a stellar five-win campaign in 2022, scoring three times at Group 1 level including the Nunthorpe at York.
She enjoyed a big run here last summer when sixth in the Platinum Jubilee over six-furlongs and should be well-suited by this shorter trip back here.
A fine second in last month's comeback at York when she carried a penalty and looks primed for this now.
Coolangatta @ 7/2
Trainer: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace
Jockey: James McDonald
This Aussie raider is bidding to become the sixth winner of the King's Stand to come from the southern hemisphere and oblige. Won the Lightning Stakes at Flemington in February and this exciting three-year-old filly rates a solid contender.
Dramatised @ 6/1
Trainer: Karl Burke
Jockey: Danny Tudhope
Smart form last season included winning the Queen Mary over this course and distance, before signing off with close second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Keeneland.
Won the Temple Stakes at Haydock on last month's return to action. Was getting lots of weight from her rivals in that contest and this is more demanding for sure, but capable of better still.
Cannonball @ 12/1
Trainer: Peter & Paul Snowden
Jockey: Brett Prebble
The second Aussie challenger, winner of a Group 3 handicap at Rosehill in March, but then only third afterwards in another valuable contest back there soon after.
Still just a three-year-old and there could be more to come from him. Improvement needed and looks to be Australia's second string in this contest.
Outside of the top five in the betting, there are plenty lively contenders with a field of 19 declared for the King's Stand.
American trainer Wesley Ward is renowned for his work with outstanding sprinters and he looks to the filly Twilight Gleaming (20/1) this time with Irad Ortiz in the saddle.
She warmed up for this with a Listed success at Keeneland in April and should be like a coiled spring now.
Vadream (50/1) won the Palace House at Newmarket in May on soft ground, but couldn't match that since on fast ground in France. Rain would aid her cause.
Last year's Coventry winner Bradsell (33/1) made a pleasing return from his absence here last month, but didn't repeat it since at Haydock. He returns for Archie Watson and Hollie Doyle and has happy memories of this meeting.
Also amongst the three-year-old contingent is Marshman (25/1) for Karl Burke and Clifford Lee. The son of Harry Angel needs to up his game and has been beaten by the likes of Highfield Princess and Annaf (80/1) lately.
Ryan Moore rides Twilight Calls (25/1) for Henry Candy and they have it all to prove on the formbook, while Irish raider Mooneista (40/1) was an excellent fourth in this race a year ago for Joseph O'Brien.
Veteran Equilateral (33/1) was second behind Dramatised in the Temple at Haydock last month and has finished second and fifth in two previous attempts at this prize.
