Paris Saint-Germain's victory over Barcelona was marred by a serious injury suffered by talisman Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Luis Enrique's side retained their place at the top of the UEFA Champions League league stage in a thrilling six-goal clash with the La Liga side on Tuesday night.
Just before the hour mark at the Parc des Princes however, Kvaratskhelia fell to the ground after a challenge with Xavi Espar and immediately appeared to be in significant discomfort.
The 25-year-old was eventually removed from the field with the help of PSG's medical staff but appeared unable to put any weight on his right leg.
Kvaratskhelia was one of three PSG players to be forced off during the game, as both Ousmane Dembele and Marquinhos were also taken off injured against the Blaugrana.
Of the trio his injury is by far the most serious however, with Kvaratskhelia now expected to undergo surgery in the coming days for a ruptured ACL.
With the winger key to Les Parisiens' bid to continue their reign of dominance in Europe, we've taken a look at how long Kvaratskhelia could be sidelined for.
On Wednesday morning PSG fans' worst fears were confirmed when a statement from the club detailed the extent of his injury.
It read: "Having suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during yesterday’s match against FC Barcelona, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will undergo surgery in the coming days."
Even with surgery imminent, should a severe injury will likely preclude Kvaratskhelia from featuring again this season, meaning he will play no part as PSG look to retain their European crown.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic recovering from a similar setback after just seven months back in 2017 was considered abnormal.
Should Kvaratskhelia similarly outperform typical recovery timelines he would still face a race against time to return for the club's final Ligue 1 game of the season against Toulouse on the 29th of May, 2027.
