Perth Glory’s record goalscorer and appearance holder Andy Keogh has revealed he will retire at the end of the current A-League campaign.
Glory are set to finish bottom of the ladder so he will not be going out on a high, but he has enjoyed some great times with the club after arriving from the UK.
Tough decision
Keogh has scored 59 goals in 155 games for Glory and admits it was a tough decision to make. However the amount of games throughout his career, which also included spells with Wolves and Leeds United, has taken its toll.
The 35-year-old will stay on in some capacity though as he will take up a new role with the club he first joined in 2014.

“The reality is my body has told me that it’s time,” he said. “My focus now will be on helping this great club achieve sustained success as I transition into a new role.
“I’ve loved every minute of playing for this club. I’ll never forget scoring goals at The Shed end and jumping into the crowd.”
Sage praise
Meanwhile Glory owner Tony Sage has saluted the player and says his name is written in to the history books of the club.
“His place among the pantheon of Glory greats is well and truly assured,” he said. “We have been extremely fortunate to have a player of his outstanding quality for such a long period of time.”
