Brentford have appointed rookie boss Keith Andrews as their new head coach.
The 44-year-old - who has never managed a professional team before - has signed a three-year deal at the Gtech Community Stadium.
A club statement read:
Keith Andrews appointed Brentford head coach; the 44-year-old has been part of the Bees’ first-team coaching staff since July 2024; director of football Phil Giles: “Keith is a very good fit. He is clear in what he wants, he’s detailed, and the players and staff like and respect him."
News of Andrews' appointment comes after former manager Thomas Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur following a hugely successful spell in West London.
Frank was the Premier League's third-longest serving manager before his departure, during which time he helped the club achieve top-flight football for the first time in nearly 75 years.
Four consecutive seasons in the Premier League followed and a ninth-placed finish in 2022/23 became the club's highest position in English football since 1938.
Brentford's hierarchy, mainly for their work in the transfer market, have carved out an esteemed reputation within football so an internal appointment should not be underestimated.
Formerly an assistant boss with MK Dons, Republic Of Ireland and Sheffield United, Andrews joined Brentford at the beginning of the 2023/24 season where he has been serving as a set-piece coach ever since.

Brentford's first competitive game under the former Republic Of Ireland midfielder will be a trip to Nottingham Forest on Premier League opening day before taking charge of his first home match one week later against Aston Villa.
It remains to be seen whether they will retain the services of last seasons top goalscorer Bryan Mbeumo who is the subject of a £60m bid from Manchester United.
The Cameroon international hit 20 league goals for the Bees in 2024/25, striking up one of the most feared strike partnerships in the league with teammate Yoane Wissa.
