Featherweight rivals Calvin Kattar and Arnold Allen will attempt to take a step closer to a title shot when they headline UFC Vegas 63 on Saturday.
Alexander Volkanovski, who is the pound-for-pound number one fighter in the UFC, has been a dominant force in the featherweight division for half a decade.
The Australian won the 145lb belt courtesy of a decision victory over Max Holloway in 2019 and has since made four successful defences.
Volkanovski has his sights set on becoming a two-weight world champion and is expected to challenge newly-crowned lightweight champion Islam Makhachev for the 155lb strap when the UFC heads to Perth, Australia on 12th February.
With his attentions turned elsewhere, the likes of #5 Kattar and #6 Allen are hoping to climb the rankings to put themselves in contention for a title bout in 2023.
Kattar, priced at 1/1 to win on Saturday, has been on the verge of entering the title conversation in the past but his brutal loss to Holloway in January 2021 saw him forced out of action for a year.
He returned to beat Giga Chikadze by decision in January 2022 but has since tasted defeat against Josh Emmett in June.
Allen, who can be backed at 4/5 to get the win, is flying and he'll step into the octagon on Saturday on the back of 11 successive victories with nine of those coming in the UFC.
The Ipswich-born 28-year-old was last seen earning a very impressive first-round victory over Dan Hooker at London's O2 Arena in March.
The momentum certainly appears to be on the side of the Englishman ahead of UFC Vegas 63 but Allen will need to prove his worth once again to stay on track.
