We analyse the credentials and statistics of super-lightweight rivals Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano as the two get set for their hugely-anticipated undisputed world title rematch in Arlington, Texas, this weekend.
In April 2022, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano met in the biggest and, arguably, best women’s fight of all time - making history in the process by becoming the first female fighters to sell out Madison Square Garden.
Anticipation was high, the atmosphere was white-hot and the fight truly delivered.
After 10 brutal rounds, it was the Irishwoman who had her hand raised, winning by split-decision, but it was a war which could have gone either way.
Now, just over two-and-a-half years on, they meet again on 16th November, at AT&T Stadium, Texas, with all of Taylor’s super-lightweight titles at stake.
First time around, the judges could barely split them, and as a result, the odds are once again incredibly close.
Their initial encounter was a classic and the rematch is likely to produce another thrilling battle, but the big question is 'who will prevail?'
We'll find out this weekend, but first, let's take a look at the 'Tale of the Tape'...

No one has done more to raise the profile of women’s boxing than Katie Taylor.
She played a pivotal role in ensuring female fighters could participate at the Olympics and went on to become one of the success stories of London 2012.
After turning professional in 2016, she legitimised a sport which hand been treated as little more than a sideshow attraction.
Epic battles against Delfine Persoon and Natasha Jonas proved just how thrilling female fights could be.
After unifying all the belts at lightweight, the pinnacle of Taylor’s career came against Amanda Serrano.
Expectations were sky-high, but they managed to surpass them.
The Olympic gold medallist was in trouble, big trouble, in the middle rounds, but she refused to wilt under the pressure.
Instead, lifted by a vocal fan base, the 38-year-old rallied to sweep the last three rounds on all three judges’ scorecards.
Having fought exclusively in Britain and America in the paid ranks, Taylor had a homecoming in Dublin, last year.
She challenged Chantelle Cameron for all the marbles at 140lbs, aiming to become a two-weight undisputed champion. It wasn’t to be. The Englishwoman was too sharp on the night.
The obituaries for the Taylor’s career were being written, but she was determined to right that wrong. Six months later, she did just that.
The Bray boxer has had two rematches in her career to date, and she is yet to taste defeat in one.
Can she keep the streak going against Serrano?
Only time will tell.
Strengths: | Weaknesses: |
Hand speed | Stays in range too long |
Combination punching | Brings her gloves back low after throwing |
Footwork | Can be drawn into the wrong kind of fight |
Accuracy | Open to counters when throwing her own shots |
If Amanda Serrano is not the greatest female fighter of all time, she is certainly in the conversation.
The Puerto Rican has won world titles in every division from super-flyweight to super-lightweight.
Over the past 12 years, ‘The Real Deal’ has been a dominant force, with her sole loss during that period coming against Katie Taylor.
Of course, many feel the 36-year-old did enough to win in their first bout, as she was particularly impressive during the middle section of the fight.
What truly makes Serrano stand out is her fight-ending power.
The vast majority of women’s bouts go the distance, but the seven-weight world champion has real pop on her punches and is good at finishing opponents when they are hurt.
Her power was almost telling in her initial fight with her great rival. During the fifth round, the southpaw hurt the Irishwoman badly, unloading a volley of punches, but, somehow, Taylor survived.
In the 10th Taylor was stunned and her knee almost touched the canvas. Had she not recovered her balance, a knockdown would have changed the outcome.
The biggest concern for the current unified featherweight champion is that her power may not have the same effect at super-lightweight.
Their first meeting took place 135lbs, but each could be as much as five pounds heavier this time.
But if anyone can overcome the size discrepancy, it is Serrano.
Strengths: | Weaknesses: |

Applies pressure | Overreaches with punches |
Body shots | Ineffective on the back foot |
