Kansas City Chiefs' road to 2025 NFL Championship

The scene is set for the 2025 NFL Championship and the Kansas City Chiefs are one win away from immortality.

Andy Reid's team are aiming to complete an unprecedented feat and become the first franchise in NFL history to win three successive Championships.

In order to achieve success, they must conquer the team they defeated just a couple of years ago, the Philadelphia Eagles.

We take a look at the Chiefs' journey to the showpiece in New Orleans.

  • Loss - 0-38 @ Denver Broncos

It speaks volumes of the standards Kansas City have set that in spite of a 15-2 season - making them one of only nine teams in history to achieve 15+ regular season wins - the Chiefs were somewhat unconvincing on their journey to retrieving the AFC's No.1 seed.

Patrick Mahomes and Co. won six matches by three points or less, one of which included a 16-14 triumph over AFC West rivals the Denver Broncos after the Chiefs incredibly managed to block a late field goal.

Despite boasting the league's best win-loss record, the Chiefs were one of only three teams who failed to score more than 30 points in a single game during the regular season, alongside the 4-13 Las Vegas Raiders and 4-13 New England Patriots.

Andy Reid could take solace in Kansas City's defensive solidity, however, with the Chiefs on course to conceding the fewest points in the league prior to their 38-0 blowout against the Broncos where they fielded a second-string side.

Divisional Round

Kansas City Chiefs 23-14 Houston Texans

Having advanced to the Divisional Round with a minimal of fuss, there was a sense of inevitability to the Chiefs as they commenced their postseason campaign against the Texans.

Houston ignored the form book to conquer the Los Angeles Chargers in their Wild Card clash but their history of never reaching the Conference Championships caught up with them as DeMeco Ryans' team were unable to half the prolific Patrick Mahomes-Travis Kelce combination.

Chiefs' star quarterback combined with his tight end seven times for 117 yards, while Kansas City's pass rush minimised Houston's threat in the air as C.J. Stroud was dragged to the ground on eight occasions.

Conference Championship

Kansas City Chiefs 32-29 Buffalo Bills

In a blossoming rivalry between two of the AFC's titans, the Chiefs and Bills delivered yet another epic contest as Kansas City outlasted Buffalo with the help of a sprinkle of Mahomes magic.

Once again it was the defence who stepped up with significant stops at decisive moments, pestering the regular season MVP Josh Allen and pressuring him into mistakes.

With the margins so tight, who else would you want on your team but Mahomes? The three-time NFL Championship MVP marched his team down the field, throwing for one touchdown and rushing for two more as the Chiefs put up 30+ points for the first time this season and inflicted another anguishing defeat on the Bills.
