Betting has been suspended on Kalvin Phillips moving to Ipswich Town following a string of bets placed on the Manchester City midfielder moving to Portman Road.
Everton had been strongly linked with a move for a player who seems certain to leave the Premier League champions, which could be on loan or even on a permanent basis.
Phillips, who has made 31 appearances for England and was part of Gareth Southgate's side which reached the final of Euro 2020, joined Manchester City for an eye-catching fee of £45 million in the summer of 2022.
However, he has failed to establish himself in Manchester and has struggled for game time in the last two seasons, making just 16 Premier League appearances for the Citizens.
An opportunity for first team football arose in this year's January transfer window as Phillips joined West Ham, but it was an ill-fated move that saw Phillips far from his best, which resulted in the midfielder being left out of England's Euro 2024 squad.
Though the Toffees previously headed the betting, Ipswich are in pole position with betting suspended on a move.
