The K League is the top flight of men's professional football in the South Korean football league system and was founded in 1983.

The following 12 teams will compete in the 2025 K League season:

K League: Format

The league introduced a split system like the Scottish Premiership in the 2012 season, where each club plays each other three times in the regular round.

The top and bottom six teams are then split into a championship and relegation section, in which a team plays every other team in the split once, to decide the final standings.

The team that finishes bottom of the standings will be relegated to K League 2, while the team placed fourth and fifth in the relegation split will play in a relegation play-off against teams from the K League 2 to determine whether they stay in the league.
