Jude Bellingham will wait until after the Club World Cup to have surgery on a shoulder problem that will see him miss the first six weeks of the 2025/26 campaign.
It has been a persistent injury for Bellingham that started all the way back in 2023, but the decision has been made for an operation to take place after the tournament in the United States.
Re-branded for this season, the Club World Cup is scheduled between 15th June and 13th July.
The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder initially missed two games for both Real Madrid and England when he sustained the injury against Rayo Vallecano nearly two years ago.
Ever since then Bellingham has donned heavy strapping on his shoulder for both club and country.
It is expected that the 2023 Golden Boy winner will not only miss the whole of pre-season, but also at least the first six weeks of the new campaign.
This will mean that Bellingham will be a notable absentee for England's World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia.
Thomas Tuchel announces his squad for June's matches against Senegal and Andorra on Friday with the participation of players competing in this year's Club World Cup cast in doubt.
Still just 21, concerns have been growing over the last couple of years that Bellingham may be playing too much, too soon.
He broke into Birmingham City's first team at the incredibly young age of 16 and has received regular minutes ever since.
Season | Club | Appearances | Minutes |
2024/25 | Real Madrid | 52 | 4,347 |

Bellingham has enjoyed an incredibly successful career so far.

He scored 23 goals in all competitions in his first season for Los Blancos where he helped the club land a La Liga and UEFA Champions League double.
