Our resident boxing expert Rob Tebbutt shares his tips for Saturday's long-anticipated rematch between super-lightweight foes Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall in Leeds.
Coming up on Saturday night is the 'Bad Blood' rematch that we have waited over two years for, as Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall finally look to settle their differences following their hugely controversial first meeting in 2022.
Taylor was the sizeable favourite last time out before going on to score that hugely contentious split-decision victory, but it's actually Catterall who heads into this weekend's fight as the odds-on favourite.
Taylor, of course, was beaten by Teofimo Lopez last year meaning he no longer holds any world titles having previously been the undisputed super-lightweight champion and one of Britain's greatest ever fighters.
The issue now is that nobody really knows exactly where he is at in his career, given he was nowhere near his best against Lopez last time out, and, by his own admission, was way below par in his first encounter with Catterall a couple of years ago.
I am expecting a really closely contested matchup between the two however. There will be some close, scrappy and messy rounds, which will be difficult to score.
We know that there is genuine animosity between the two as well, and when that is the case then more often than not it makes for a poor spectacle, which is why I will be looking at 'Method of Victory' markets for this bout.
I felt there was a lot of value in those markets for Tyson Fury v Oleksandr Usyk last weekend, and it proved to be the case, and I just feel that this fight will be equally as close on the judges' scorecards.
I am expecting it to go the distance so for me either fighter to prevail by 'Split Decision' or 'Majority Decision' at 11/2 and 9/1 are two plays I will be looking at.
As well as that, given that this, for me, is a genuine 50/50 fight, I feel that there is a bit of value in Taylor to win 'By Decision or Technical Decision' which is available at 13/5.
It just appears that Catterall's price to win this fight is a little bit shorter than it should be, so if you are looking for an outright play, then the value lies with the Scotsman, who not so long ago, was regarded by many in the game as a true pound-for-pound superstar.
