Our resident boxing Rob Tebbutt previews Josh Kelly's return to in-ring action against Flavius Biea on Friday night, explaining where he feels the betting value can be found.
Josh Kelly faces Flavius Biea this evening as the Sunderland super-welterweight looks to close in on a long-awaited crack at a world title.
Kelly was last seen in a dominant decision win over Ishmael Ellis on the Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois undercard last September, but returns way below that level this time out against Romania’s Biea.
This is a fight that should see Kelly win and win well. He does have a habit of coasting at times, but Biea is a very basic, lower-tier opponent.
He was arguably beaten by faded former 140lb title challenger Juan Jose Velasco in a split decision win back in May 2023, with his only other notable win coming over an ancient Darleys Perez last April.
Kelly should be too sharp, too technical and simply too good for Flavius Biea.
