bet365's boxing expert Rob Tebbutt looks ahead to Sunday's super-bantamweight dust-up between John Riel Casimero and Saul Sanchez in Yokohama, Japan, and tells us where the betting value appears to lie.
John Riel Casimero and Saul Sanchez meet on Sunday morning in Yokohama in a classic cross-roads fight at super-bantamweight.
Casimero has long-been considered as one of the sport’s most exciting fighters, but recent years have seen him struggle with inactivity, weight problems and outside of the ring issues.
His previous bout against Yukinoro Oguni in October 2023 saw Casimero fortunate to leave with a Technical Draw after an accidental clash of heads. Up until that point, Casimero had looked far from his best.
Sanchez himself is coming off a narrow loss to Australia’s Jason Moloney in his challenge for a world title in January, with an eight round decision win over Arthur Villanueva in July setting him up for another crack at the big time against Casimero.
As good as John Riel Casimero has been, he has been far from convincing in recent times and a well-schooled, tough competitor like Sanchez could very well be the type of opponent to be his undoing.
I’ll be taking the underdog Saul Sanchez to win this fight.
