Joe O'Connor has been priced up at 33/1 to win the 2024 Word Snooker Championship after stunning four-time Crucible winner Mark Selby in the first round.

The Leicester star, a 100/1 pre-tournament outsider, produced a scintillating display on his World Championship debut to overcome the former world number one 10-6.
A majestic opening session on Sunday saw O'Connor establish a five-frame cushion leading into Monday afternoon's play, and despite a spirited effort from Selby to pull himself back into the encounter, he ultimately held his nerve to record a momentous victory.
O'Connor has previously reached two major finals in his career, at the 2023 Scottish Open and more recently the 2024 Championship League, but never will a victory have been more sweet than his maiden Crucible triumph.
The 28-year-old had openly spoken of his admiration for Selby ahead of the game, with the pair hailing from within just a couple of miles of each other and having practised together regularly over the past couple of years.
Selby, last year's beaten finalist, has typically reserved his best form of the season for the Sheffield spectacle, having captured the title four times.
However, a hugely disappointing first round exit - his first since 2018 - will raise questions over his own future in the sport after recently revealing that he had been contemplating time away from the game, or even retirement.
For O'Connor, however, he will now look forward to a last 16 showdown with either Kyren Wilson or Dominic Dale with the carrot of a quarter-finals spot dangling in front of him.
