After a breakout 2022, Welsh Wizard Joe Cordina makes the first defence of the super-featherweight title he reclaimed earlier this year when he takes on Edward Vazquez in Monte Carlo this weekend.
Vazquez is a typical Mexican-American boxer - plenty of heart, great engine and a capable fighter on the inside. However, he is naturally a featherweight, and Cordina is a big lad at super-featherweight.
I expect Vazquez to be wary early on, particularly with Cordina’s explosive knockout power, but I see the Welshman chipping away at him throughout and grinding out the stoppage.
I do feel there’s plenty of value to be had on Cordina winning the fight 'By KO, TKO or Disqualification' at 11/10, especially when considering the gulf in class and size difference between the pair.
If you’re looking for a bit more bang for your buck though, then I would recommend taking a look at Cordina 'Between Rounds 5 - 8' at 4/1 and Cordina 'Between Rounds 7 - 12' at 11/5.
For me, both of those options represent very good value, because I don't expect the Welshman to simply walk in the ring and blow Vazquez away, as he did when he blew Kenichi Ozawa away in the second round last June.
11/10 for a Cordina win 'By KO, TKO or Disqualification' is where I think the betting value lies.
