Jarrad Branthwaite Next Club Odds: Everton defender 5/4 to sign for Manchester United

Jarrad Branthwaite has had a breakthrough season in the heart of an Everton defence with the second highest number of clean sheets in the Premier League. With the centre-back turning heads, we've priced up his next club on 5th September 2024.

Speculation suggests that Everton will be looking for upwards of £85m for Jarrad Branthwaite, and if you compare his performances this season to defenders that have been signed for similar sums of money, it's easy to see why.

One potential destination for the 6ft4 Cumbrian is Manchester United.

The Red Devils have struggled with their centre-back pairings this season. Yes, Lisandro Martinez has been a mainstay when he is fit but the issue is that hasn't been very often in 2023/24, and United haven't quite figured out who should replace him.

Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelöf, Jonny Evans and even Willy Kambwala have all taken turns in and out of the team. Signing the Everton man, who has a very good injury record, should give them some defensive consistency.

The Toffees will be desperate to keep hold of Branthwaite if their finances allow it, so there is always the possibility that he stays; he has a good partnership with James Tarkowski, and playing under Sean Dyche is only going to improve the defensive side of his game.

There have been rumours of a more rewarding move for the former Carlisle man; he has been linked with Manchester City, as a potential replacement for another former Toffees man John Stones.

Despite a few injury issues this season though, Stones' time at the Citizens seems far from over, and he is one of the first names on the team sheet for Pep Guardiola when he is fit. Perhaps another year of development on Merseyside would open doors in either January or next summer.

With Sven Botman's questionable injury record, and a few ageing defenders playing in his absence, Branthwaite may follow the path of his former Everton team mate Anthony Gordon up to Newcastle.

The Magpies certainly aren't short of cash and could offer him consistent playing time, whilst the move would also take him back closer to home.
