We analyse the statistics and credentials of welterweight world champions Jaron Ennis and Eimantas Stanionis as the pair get set to contest a hugely-anticipated unification showdown in Atlantic City in the early hours of Sunday 14th April, 2025.
The Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City has a storied history with boxing but nowadays isn’t high on the list when it comes to staging big-time matchups.
From Mike Tyson v Larry Holmes in 1988 to the second and third acts of the relentless and legendary Arturo Gatti-Mickey Ward trilogy, this historic boxing landmark is now set to stage the huge welterweight unification clash between Jaron Ennis and Eimantas Stanionis.
It’s skill versus will, but who prevails?
Before we find out, it's time to take a look at the 'Tale of the Tape'.

Jaron Ennis was once heralded as the future of the welterweight division, but since his arrival as IBF champion and the number one at 147lbs, his performances have cast doubts over his potential to become a boxing superstar.
The Philadelphian’s ability is not in question, but in his last bout, an unnecessary governing body driven rematch against Karen Chukhadzhian, showed chinks in his armour and his tendency to coast.
Against Eimantas Stanionis, he will face an immovable object which gives Ennis the opportunity to become an irresistible force and prove that he is a fighter who could go on to enjoy a stellar hall of fame career.
In the upcoming IBF and WBA unification bout, Ennis will not be hindered by the IBF’s 10lbs rehydration clause because of unification rules - which should allow ‘Boots’ to come in bigger and stronger which may spell trouble for Stanionis.
That knowledge should fill Ennis with confidence and allow for a much sharper showing from the American.

The first Lithuanian-born world champion has put a period of illness and inactivity behind him and will arrive in Atlantic City as a serious and genuine threat to Jaron Ennis.
In January 2023, Stanionis underwent an emergency appendectomy, which forced his bout with Vergil Ortiz Jr to be postponed.
The highly-anticipated battle was rescheduled, but subsequent issues with Ortiz’s health postponed the fight once again, and then once more a few months later when Ortiz pulled out for a second time, suffering from dehydration and heat exhaustion.
Stanionis has been waiting for an opportunity to face someone like Ennis for some time and his inactivity is reflected in his unbeaten 15-fight record, despite making his professional debut in April 2017.
His comeback win against Gabriel Maestre and then his subsequent elevation to full WBA world title status were his only 2024 boxing highlights.
On paper, those may look thin, but for Stanionis it was everything, and now he holds in his hands the keys to becoming undisputed champion.
The problem for the Lithuanian is that he must ensure his pressure fighting tactics don’t leave him vulnerable to the ferocious firepower of Ennis.
If he can withstand the IBF champion’s punches and drag him into a slug-fest then he may emerge victorious... but it’s a big if.
