Jango Baie upsets Majborough to win 2025 Arkle Chase

Jango Baie stormed up the hill in sensational fashion to upset 1/2 favourite Majborough and win the Arkle Chase for Nicky Henderson at the 2025 Cheltenham Festival.

Majborough appeared to be cruising as the field of five approached the final few fences, but a mistake on the penultimate fence brought L'eau Du Sud and Only By Night into contention.

The favourite appeared to have redeemed himself on the concluding sprint, only for Jango Baie to emerge from virtually nowhere and surge ahead at the last to win in a thrilling climax.

After the disappointment Henderson and Nico de Boinville endured at last year's festival, this success will taste all the sweeter.

Speaking in the aftermath of Jango Baie's superb victory, Henderson told BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra: "Incredible, what a finisher, what a great horse.

"I'm lost for words at the moment. It's a big day, credit to Nico."
