1983 World Darts Champion Keith Deller MBE looks ahead to Sunday's final UK Open quarter-final as world number one Luke Humphries bids to keep his title hopes alive against 'The Machine' James Wade, in Minehead.
James Wade v Luke Humphries
Sunday 2nd March
James Wade continues to roll back the years and I agree that at some point he will likely capture another major title - he is undoubtedly good enough to do that.
The issue for him this weekend is that he is now running into a Luke Humphries who is playing some truly relentless darts.
He has won his last two matches 10-0 and 10-2 - dropping just two legs from the last 22 he has played, and, at this level, that is astonishing.
James has had a good weekend, he will give it a go I am sure, but I just see the world number one laying his marker early doors and once he gets in front, he's incredibly difficult to peg back.
I don't expect the 180s to be hammered home - there will be lost of 137s and 140s, so over 8.5 maximums looks a solid shout, whilst I am also taking Humphries to land the most 100+ checkouts.
His finishing has been outstanding over the past couple of days, and I fully expect that to continue on Sunday too.
As I said earlier, James will be game, but I fancy Luke to win this one, even with a -4.5 leg handicap - he's just playing that well.
