We profile the 11-time PDC major title winner, 'The Machine' James Wade.
James Wade is one of the most decorated players in PDC history, boasting a total of 11 major ranking titles.
His success in the 2007 World Matchplay established him as the youngest player to win a major title at the age of 24, whilst he has gone on to add plenty more accolades to his honours list in the years since.
Wade has reigned supreme at the UK Open three times, twice at the World Grand Prix as well as capturing European Championship, Premier League, Championship League, Masters and World Series of Darts Finals titles.
The World Darts Championship crown has however continued to elude him despite reaching the semi-finals on four occasions - most recently in 2022.
A disappointing second round exit at the hands of Jermaine Wattimena in the 2025 World Darts Championship means his wait for that crown goes on.
As well as his major titles, James Wade has also enjoyed monumental success in European Tour and Players Championship events.
His overall tally sits at 38 PDC tournament successes which, coupled with his 11 major honours, makes him the third most decorated player in PDC history behind Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen.
James Wade is currently ranked number 15 on the PDC’s two-year Order of Merit.
James Wade is also known as 'The Machine' on tour, with his nickname because of his ability to pin his favoured double 10 in almost machine-like fashion.
James Wade currently walks out to ‘I'm Still Standing’, by Elton John, a song that he holds huge affection for due to his well-documented off-stage mental health struggles.
Prior to switching up his entrance music in 2024, 'The Machine' had previously made his entrance to the stage to Thin Lizzy's 'The Boys are Back in Town'.
James Wade is 41-year-old, and will turn 42 on 6th April 2025.
James Wade was born in Aldershot, Surrey, and he remains local to the area to this day, currently basing himself in nearby Ash.
He lives there with his wife Sammi, a former walk on girl, and their two children.
James Wade has collected £426,750 in prize money over a two-year period in ranking tournaments.
James Wade uses 20g Unicorn James Wade Maestro Premier Phase 2 arrows.
It's estimated that James Wade boasts a net worth in excess of £4m, largely owing to his success on the PDC Tour and his long-standing sponsorship agreements.
