Somerset batsman James Rew will replace the injured Jordan Cox for England's upcoming one-off Test match against Zimbabwe.
Rew has been in sublime form for Somerset so far in 2025, amassing 383 runs at an average of 54.71 so far in the County Championship.
The 21-year-old has also etched his name into the record books.
Not since the 1930s had an English cricketer made 10 first class centuries before his 22nd birthday but Rew's 116 against Essex earlier in the month saw him match Denis Compton's longstanding achievement.
With England U19 and England Lions experience to his name, Rew has been in and around an international set-up but this will mark his first involvement with the senior side.
Jordan Cox - the man he is replacing - sustained an abdominal injury whilst batting against Rew's Somerset this week.
This comes as a cruel blow to Cox as he also missed out on the tour of New Zealand with a broken thumb just before Christmas.
The Essex-wicketkeeper-batter is enduring a fine start to the season, averaging north of 74 in the County Championship so far.
Zimbabwe visit Trent Bridge for the four-day event on 22nd May before England's Test summer kicks in officially with the tour of India in June.
India will be led by a new captain after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from cricket's longest-format.
