With the next Irish general election set for the spring of 2025, attentions will quickly turn to the presidential election later that year.

Michael D. Higgins won by a landslide in the 2018 presidential election after winning in 2011, but will stand down at the end of his second term.
Candidates have not yet been confirmed, but Micheal Martin, Mairead McGuinness and Fergus Finlay are thought to be the frontrunners at this stage.
