India v Jamaica 2026 Unity Cup odds

Charlton Athletic's The Valley will play host to a showdown between India and Jamaica on Thursday night as part of the fourth edition of the Unity Cup.

The international friendly tournament, which hosts teams that have significant diasporas in the British capital, was revived last year and hosted at Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium.

In 2025 Nigeria were crowned champions for a third consecutive time, defeating Jamaica on penalties after the two teams could not be separated after 90 minutes.

This year Nigeria, Jamaica, Zimbabwe and India will compete for glory in south-east London, with both the final the and third-place play-off set to take place this Saturday, 30 May.

The lowest-ranked team to feature in the competition, India will be significant underdogs against the Reggae Boyz when they take to the pitch on Thursday night.

Currently managed by former international midfielder Khalid Jamil, India have historically underperformed at football in relation to the county's size and population.

The Blue Tigers missed out on a place in this summer's World Cup after finishing third in Group A in AFC qualifying, with their only win coming away to Kuwait in November 2023.

In their most recent outing India defeated Hong Kong in Asian Cup qualifying last month, with former Fulham and Portsmouth winger Ryan Williams netting the opening goal in his official debut after switching his international allegiance from Australia.

Williams has been named in India's 22-man squad for the Unity Cup and the 32-year-old will be hoping to make it two in two when they take a team more than 60 places ahead of them in the FIFA rankings.

For Jamaica meanwhile the upcoming games represent a chance for them to return to winning ways after narrowly missing out on a place at the World Cup.

After finishing second behind Curacao in CONCACAF qualifying, they progressed to the inter-confederation play-offs in March and defeated New Caledonia courtesy of a goal from Wrexham striker Bailey Cadamarteri to move within one game of the tournament.

However, after a tense battle with DR Congo went into extra time goalless, Axel Tuanzebe netted to break the deadlock and end Jamaica's aspirations for reaching the World Cup for just the second time in their history.

History will be on Jamaica's side at The Valley, the last time the two teams met in August 2002 they triumphed 3-0 with Jermaine Anderson, Aaron Lawrence and Ian Goodison getting on the scoresheet at Vicarage Road.
