India have beaten England by 336 runs at Edgbaston to level the five-Test series 1-1 with three matches to play.
Led expertly by captain Shubman Gill who broke the record for the most runs scored by an Indian batter in a Test match, the tourists bounced back from their disappointment at Headingley to dominate from start to finish at Edgbaston.
Despite losing the toss and being put in to bat, superb performances from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja and Gill helped India put a mammoth 587 runs on the board in the 1st innings.
Apart from an incredible 303-run partnership from Jamie Smith and Harry Brook, all of England's other batters struggled with the India attack and the visitors had a 180-run lead.
With each of the top six scoring at least 28 runs and Gill producing a magnificent 161, India pressed home their advantage and declared with a mammoth lead of 607 runs.
There will have been a slight panic in the India dressing room as rain delayed the start of the final day, but as soon as play resumed the bowlers did the damage and they secured a hugely impressive victory with 30 overs remaining in the day.
Akash Deep was the pick of the bowlers for India as he took six 2nd innings wickets, including the crucial scalps of Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope and Joe Root.
