All-Ireland Hurling Championship Final: Date, venue, history, how to watch & more

Sunday sees the crowning of this season's All-Ireland Hurling Championship winners, with Cork and Clare squaring off at Croke Park as they bid to end their respective 19 and 11-year waits to land the sport's biggest prize.

Although another Munster county will once again be the winner, there will be a fresh name etched on the trophy after Limerick's bid for an unprecedented fifth successive title was ended by Cork in the semi-finals.

Clare have had the upper hand in recent meetings between Sunday's finalists, having won the last three games and four of the last five, but historically it is Cork who have been the stronger of the two with 39 wins to 17 and five draws.

All-Ireland Hurling Championship Final venue/location

As has been the case in every year but two since 1914, the All-Ireland Hurling Championship Final will be held at Croke Park in Dublin, with the Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney having hosted the final in 1937, while the 1984 showpiece was held at Thurles' Semple Stadium.

Before the development of Croke Park, its previous guise, Jones' Road, also regularly played host to the final between 1895 to 1913, although there were a number of venues used.

The first ever final took place at Birr Sportsfield in 1887, while Clonturk Park took centre stage for four of the first seven editions.

All-Ireland Hurling Championship Final how to watch

The 2024 All-Ireland Hurling Championship Final will be broadcast on the BBC network, with viewers able to watch the match on BBC Two and BBC Two Northern Ireland, as well as on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.

All-Ireland Hurling Championship Final history

Sunday''s All-Ireland Hurling Championship Final is a repeat of the 2013 showpiece in which Clare came out on top to claim their fourth title in what was the last time they reached the final.

Cork have made it to the final since, but once again ended up on the losing side to the recently dominant Limerick side in 2021, although they exacted their revenge in this season's semi-finals.

Cork have lost the last three finals they have reached since last winning the title in 2005 when going back-to-back, claiming their 30th overall success when beating Galway.

Although 30 Championships is an impressive tally, it is not the best record in All-Ireland Hurling Championship Finals.

Leinster's Kilkenny boast that honour with 36 to their name, last winning it in 2015, although they have been beaten in four finals since, including the last two in 2022 and 2023.
