A new era of athletics begins this week, when some of the greatest athletes on the planet heading for Budapest to take part in the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship.
The competition is a new creation which is intended to bring together some of the top names in the sport for elite competition, taking place in years when there are no Olympics or World Championships scheduled.
Featuring substantial prize money on offer, the event has attracted star names for the first staging in 2026, including Olympic champions Mondo Duplatis, Jakob Ingebrigsten and Britain's Keely Hodgkinson.

The World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest will be broadcast live on BBC Two in the UK on Friday and Saturday evening, before switching to BBC One for Sunday's action.
Live streaming will also be available on to watch on both BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.

The World Athletics Ultimate Championship will be held at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary, and will take place across three days from Friday 11th September to Sunday 13th September.
