Many Melbourne Cup hopefuls test their mettle in Saturday's Cox Plate.
Makybe Diva was the last horse to take out the Cox Plate enroute to winning the "race that stops a nation" on the first Tuesday in November and several more will try their hand when they jump from the gates on Saturday morning at Flemington.
Of the contenders, Aeliana looks most likely to pull off the double and is currently challenging for favouritism in a bid to notch a fourth Group 1 victory.
The roll of honour is unlike any other in Australian racing, boasting a list that, just in the last 10 years, includes Via Sistina, Romantic Warrior and Winx. The latter -- winner of 33 straight races -- collected this four times in a row between 2015 & 2018.
