The 45th edition of the world's largest half marathon will get underway on Saturday in the 2026 Great North Run.
More than 63,000 runners are expected to make the 13.1mile journey from Newcastle to South Shields, a record for the annual event.
Newcastle United captain Dan Burn will serve as the official starter for the run, with the England international following the likes of Sting, Alan Shearer and the late Sir Bobby Robson in fulfilling the role.

The 2026 Great North Run will be broadcast live on BBC One in the UK on Saturday, 12 September, with coverage getting underway from 10:00 BST.
Live streaming will also be available on to watch on both BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.
2026 Great North Run start times
The 2026 Great North Run will once again utilised staggered start times, with times dependant on what coloured zone runners are placed in.
- 10:20am: Elite Wheelchair athletes start
- 10:25am: Elite Women start
- 10:27am: Visually impaired (VI) participants start
- 10:35am: Warm Up
- 10:50am: Elite Men and masses start
