Stoke City and Oldham Athletic will reacquaint themselves in competitive action for the first time in two decades on Saturday when the pair meet in the first round of the EFL Cup.
The Potters will be hoping to ensure a triumphant start to the 2026/27 campaign as they look to establish themselves as Championship play-off contenders this term, whilst the Latics will be keen to produce an upset as they attempt to improve upon a tenth place finish in League Two last time around.
Historically it's the home side who have enjoyed the better of previous meetings although the lower league side did reign supreme the last time the pair met, ironically in this very competition, some 22 years ago.
