England head to Australia as they bid for Rugby League World Cup glory for the first time in their history.
In previous iterations, England -- or Great Britain -- were typically ranked alongside New Zealand as Australia's nearest challengers, but they'll now be competing with Samoa and Tonga for a place in the semi-finals, with Australia and New Zealand expected to contest the final.
The unusual format will see England, as a Pool B team, play the three teams from Pool C: Tonga, France and Lebanon, rather than fellow Pool B teams Samoa and Papua New Guinea.
It means Brian McDermott's side are almost in must-win territory from their very first game. Should England lose to Tonga, they will need to hope Samoa also lose to Tonga and that their superior points difference from games with France and Lebanon is enough to see them through to the semi-finals.
