How much will Jake Paul earn from Julio Chavez Jr fight this weekend & full prize purse

Jake Paul is set for another whopping payday as he resumes his quest for a boxing world title against former WBC middleweight title-holder Julio Chavez Jr this weekend.

Upcoming Fights & Bet Boosts

The social media superstar pocketed a reported $40m for his clash with boxing heavyweight great 'Iron' Mike Tyson last year, although it's expected he will take home around 50 percent of that this time around.

Still, $20m represents a colossal figure, and one that current bona-fide world champions could only dream of.

By contrast, Chavez Jr - a 61 fight professional veteran - is expected to earn $3m for the fight - significantly less than his opponent.

Even so, it's still expected to be one of the biggest prize purses the Mexican will ever have received for a single fight.

Chavez Jr - the son of the esteemed three-weight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Sr - has long sought a showdown with Paul, even throwing his name into the mix back in 2021.

At the time he was quoted as saying he would forfeit any potential payday from a clash with the former Disney star if was unable to beat him.

"I can only talk about myself, not about other people, I am not here to criticize anyone," he said four years ago.

I talk by analysing boxing. I hope I can get a few million with Jake Paul. If he beats me, I’ll retire, I don’t get paid!

"I don’t want money if I don’t beat him - only retirement. I'm not interested in his money if I do not win."

Since then however, Chavez Jr's career has stalled significantly, with many - including his father - even questioning his decision to take on Paul in California this weekend.

"I prefer that they retire if they are not going to prepare correctly,” Chavez Sr told Boxing Scene "He does not prepare in the best way possible to fight."

Those words came in the immediate aftermath of Chavez Jr's loss at the hands of Anderson Silva back in 2021, an opponent Paul, of course, went on to comfortably beat 12 months later.

Since that loss though, the Mexican has responded by seeing off both David Zegarra and Uriah Hall via the judges scorecards, but he still heads into this weekend's clash as the big underdog, stepping up in weight to tackle cruiserweight contender Paul.

Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr Prize Purse

It's estimated that there is a $23m prize purse for Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, with Paul pocketing the lion's share of that at around $20m.

The social media star, turned professional boxer possesses a far greater social presence than Chavez Jr, boasting around 50m followers across his major online platforms.

His fight with Mike Tyson last year drew over 65m viewers on Netflix, setting a then record for a live sporting event.

Despite Chavez Jr initially demanding a 50% cut of the purse, he eventually accepted less than a 20% share, around $3m.
