How much will Hamzah Sheeraz earn from WBO title defence against Janibek Alimkhanuly?

Hamzah Sheeraz vs Janibek Alimkhanuly is seemingly edging closer after Queensberry won the purse bid to promote the fight.

The WBO ordered Sheeraz to fight mandatory challenger Alimkhanuly after the Kazakh boxer made the jump up from the middleweight division, but the proposed clash was challenged by the reigning super middleweight champion, who believed that Alimkhanuly wasn't worthy of the opportunity after being stripped of his IBF middleweight strap as a result of testing positive for an illegal substance.

Sheeraz's stance shifted somewhat and he expressed a willingness to take the fight when speaking to CEO of Ring Magazine Rick Reeno, but the two parties failed to come to an agreement by 10th September.

A purse bid -- with a $300,000 minimum acceptable offer -- was held on Wednesday, and Frank Warren's Queensberry, who promote Sheeraz, made the winning bid.

We take a look at how much Sheeraz is in line to earn when he defends his WBO super middleweight title against Alimkhanuly.

How much will Hamzah Sheeraz earn from Janibek Alimkhanuly fight?

The WBO announced that Queensberry Promotions' winning bid stood at $1,001,809, beating Top Rank’s $820,000 offer.

It's been confirmed that the split will be 75/25 in favour of Sheeraz, the defending champion.

This is set to see Sheeraz bank $751,356.75, while challenger Alimkhanuly is in line to take home a smaller $250,452.25.

Sheeraz had previously expressed his belief that the offer could be considerably lower than what he deserves for what could be the biggest fight of his career, and it will fall signifciantly shorter than the reported $5million guaranteed sum that he pocketed when he defeated Edgar Berlanga in July 2025.

The dates proposed for the fight are the 28th November or 5th December 2026, with London, Birmingham and New York mooted as the potential venues.
