The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is already the leading goalscorer in the history of the game, enjoying prolific spells in Europe with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, to go alongside a stellar international record.
After more than 20 years, Ronaldo is still a regular starter for Portugal and has continued to find the net at an exceptional rate since making the move to Al Nassr in 2023.

Since making his professional bow for Sporting CP in 2002, Ronaldo has enjoyed 24 years at the very top of the game and, in that time, has managed to score an incredible 979 goals in 1,337 appearances.
This puts him 49 goals clear of his greatest rival, Lionel Messi.
The Portugal captain wasn't too prolific in the early stages of his career but soon found his feet as he got more and more game time with Manchester United. Year on year, Ronaldo's goalscoring record improved at Old Trafford until he exploded into life in 2007/08, ending the season with 42 goals at club level.
Real Madrid soon came calling and it was in Spain where he really started to find the net at an unprecedented rate. A move to a more central position saw Ronaldo achieve his greatest goalscoring season in 2014/15 - bagging 61 goals in 54 games. By the time he left Los Blancos in 2018, Ronaldo had netted 450 times for the Spanish giants.
The UEFA Champions League was a stage that he particularly thrived on, finishing as top goalscorer a record seven times between 2007 & 2018 and becoming the first player to notch a century of goals in the competition's illustrious history.
For Portugal, Ronaldo has netted a staggering 146 goals in 233 matches - again 19 goals clear of his closest rival in Messi. In 2026, he became the first player to score in six different editions of the World Cup, helping himself to a brace against Uzbekistan in the group stage.
Very much still a force for his country and in the Saudi Pro League, 1000 goals is very much a possibility and something he might be able to achieve by the time his 42nd birthday rolls around in early February 2027.
