Its Badger Beer day at Wincanton on Saturday and Racing Post tipster Robbie Wilders provides his horse racing betting tips for the Premier Raceday action.
13:09 Wincanton - Killer Kane @ 5/1
13:45 Wincanton - All The Glory @ 8/1
15:30 Wincanton - Lord Accord @ 7/2
13:09 Wincanton - Killer Kane @ 5/1
It is interesting to see Joe Tizzard fitting blinkers to Killer Kane for the first time in the 2m4f conditional jockeys’ handicap chase. That could prove an inspired move.
The trainer’s overall 12 percent strike-rate increases to 20 percent with horses sporting that aid for the first time and the yard's horses have been going well lately.
Killer Kane returned with an encouraging effort at Kempton last month in which he managed to trade at an in-running low of 1.77 after travelling powerfully into the race before weakening over the three-mile trip.
There should be a decent amount of pace on in this contest despite the small field and a strongly run 2m4f on a sound surface should suit Killer Kane. He is partnered by a promising conditional rider in Callum Pritchard and is well treated on past form.
13:45 Wincanton - All The Glory @ 8/1
Jonjo and AJ O’Neill are also ticking along nicely and All The Glory can keep up the good work in the following mares’ handicap hurdle.
This seven-year-old showed her class with a rampant triumph in a lucrative Grade 2 novice handicap at Newbury in March, despite the ground arguably being slower than she ideally wants, and that impressive strike came following a 94-day break.
That effort reinforced the fact she is best fresh (her last victory came after 98 days off) and the 112-day absence is of little concern.
She is only 6lb higher than for the Newbury effort and gives the impression she’ll be tackling mares’ Listed races before long. This surface is what she likes and a bold effort is expected.
15:30 Wincanton - Lord Accord @ 7/2
The 63rd running of the feature Badger Beer Handicap Chase can go the way of Lord Accord for Neil Mulholland.
This nine-year-old ran a superb race when second in the 2022 renewal despite a dodgy leap at the last when he was the only horse to make a race of it with the top-class Frodon.
He arrives off an 8lb lower mark this season and has crucially rediscovered his form on his past two starts after a spell in the doldrums.
A wide-margin hurdles success preceded another runaway strike over the Badger Beer course and distance last month. Everything appears to be in Lord Accord’s favour and he can capitalise on a nice opportunity.
