14:30 Wetherby - Sound And Fury @ 5/1

The 3m handicap chase at Wetherby is a decent contest and, despite having to carry a big weight in 12 stone 1lb, the Ben Pauling-trained SOUND AND FURY should prove too strong for his rivals under Kielan Woods.

He was rather fortunate when winning a 3m handicap chase at Uttoxeter in December off 117 as he was left in front at the last, but the fences are there for a reason - they have to be jumped.

As a consequence, the handicapper responded with a harsh 5lb rise, but he ran better than the bare result would suggest when fifth behind Jasmin De Grugy at Newbury latest, making a terrible blunder when in second which cost him momentum as the race was hotting up.

Sound And Fury is worth another chance dropping 1lb for that effort and the addition of blinkers might be a big help.

15:20 Dundalk - Hastily @ 7/1

HASTILY is well worth another chance in the competitive 6f handicap at Dundalk.

Trained by Tom McGuinness, the six-year-old mare lost all chance at the start when rearing as the stalls opened over 5f at Wolverhampton last month.

Runner-up over that course and distance when sent off favourite just two days prior, it was clear she was fancied both times, but things just didn't go to plan.

The speedy nature of the track probably didn't suit her running style either, as she likes to come from off the pace.

When Hastily last ran at Dundalk in December, she won a handicap over 7f in good style, overcoming some traffic problems to get on top close home from a mark of 47.

She is 6lb higher in the weights here, but stepping back up to 6f from the minimum will help, as will a stiffer track, while she also has the perfect draw in stall one if she can get away sharply this time.

18:00 Kempton - Modern Day @ 8/11

It usually isn't advisable to back a debutant, but Charlie Appleby's MODERN DAY could be a class above in the mile maiden at Kempton.

Appleby has farmed this race, winning it with Highland Avenue in 2021 (Group 3 winner), Noble Order in 2022 (peak rating of 90), Measured Time in 2023 (dual Group 1 winner), and won both divisions last year with Musical Dancer and Native Approach.

The son of Dansili's dam is a half-sister to 1m 2yo Group 1 winner Ibn Khaldun, who is out of a Fillies' Mile and Irish 1,000 Guineas winner, so it would be no surprise if he goes off a warm order on his debut.
