Racing Post tipster Robbie Wilders returns to provide his best bets for Saturday’s big card at Warwick, which includes the Grade 2 Kingmaker Novices' Steeple Chase and Veterans' Handicap Chase.
12:55 Warwick - Midnight Rumble @ 3/1
14:40 Warwick - You Wear It Well @ 11/2
15:15 Warwick - Editeur Du Gite @ 12/1
12:55 Warwick - Midnight Rumble @ 3/1
Midnight Rumble has made a bright start to his hurdling career for Alan King and a first success in this sphere awaits in the juvenile contest that opens the card.
The four-year-old showed some promise on his hurdles debut when sixth in a typically strong event at Kempton’s King George meeting (Sir Gino won that last year), and built on that with a fine second to Lavender Hill Mob over this course and distance last time.
That horse is considered a potential market steamer for the Boodles at the Cheltenham Festival next month and Midnight Rumble, who was progressive on the Flat in 2024, can continue his climb through the ranks.
King fares well with this type of horse switching codes.
14:40 Warwick - You Wear It Well @ 11/2
With doubts over her rivals’ wellbeing, You Wear It Well is available at a backable price for the Listed mares’ hurdle for Jamie Snowden.
Gala Marceau will have her admirers making the journey over for Willie Mullins, but was beaten at odds-on on her first two starts last campaign and is presumably building towards the spring.
West Balboa, who is next in the betting, has yet to hit the heights of her spring exploits in four starts this term as well.
While You Wear It Well has struggled herself in recent times, but a return to hurdles combined with a change to more prominent tactics may do the trick.
She possesses a stack of ability as a former Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle winner at the Cheltenham Festival.
15:15 Warwick - Editeur Du Gite @ 12/1
Editeur Du Gite may arrive badly out of form in the veterans’ handicap chase, but the 11-year-old has been running better than his finishing positions have suggested in stronger races recently and deserves a second look here.
He has been dropped 18lb in the weights in four starts this term and is a former Grade 1 winner on soft ground.
This is a more realistic assignment for Editeur Du Gite, who should enjoy pinging around Warwick from the front against older legs rather than the speedy two-milers he has been clashing with of late.
There remains another day in him and he will eventually take advantage of his tumbling rating.
