The Triumph Hurdle will get the final day of the Cheltenham Festival underway in style on Friday and there is plenty of British interest in the Grade One contest, with the top two in the betting hailing from home shores.
After winning his first three starts over hurdles by a combined distance of 32 lengths, East India Dock is being talked up by many as the one to beat in this 2m1f contest.
Two of his recent wins have come at Cheltenham, including an impressive 10-length score on Trials Day to further underline his credentials for trainer James Owen.
Nicky Henderson's Lulamba had held favouritism for this race following his victory at Ascot in January, but doubts have since crept in after he missed an intended prep run in the Adonis Hurdle at Kempton.
Irish hopes are being led by the Gavin Cromwell-trained Hello Neighbour, who was a winner at Leopardstown's Christmas Festival before returning to the same venue to claim a maiden victory at Grade One level at the Dublin Racing Festival.
Lady Vega Allen was in the rear view mirror for both of those victories for Hello Neighbour, but she could be the leading contender for Willie Mullins in this one, with the Festival’s most successful trainer having won four of the last five renewals of this race.
Mullins is not short of contenders with Sainte Lucie, Blue Lemons, Pappano and Larzac all in line to feature, while Tom Lacey's Gibbs Island and Mondo Man from Gary and Josh Moore's yard could also challenge.
There are 18 confirmed runners for the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham.
