Tripoli Flyer is likely to be a warm order for this opening 2m1/2f novice hurdle (12.05) at Market Rasen, but he was comfortably beaten on his hurdles debut at Chepstow and is worth opposing with CATCHIM.

The Charles and Adam Pogson-trained gelding had placed form in point-to-points over three miles, but took the drop to 2m41/2f in his stride when scoring on his hurdling debut at Southwell back in June.

Catchim comfortably saw off subsequent winner, Chancycourt, who finished second and the front three pulled 26 lengths clear of the remainder of the field in a solid time for the grade of race.

The six-year-old impressed with the fluency of his jumping that day and showed plenty of speed to make all. That suggests he might be even better now he is faced with a sharper test over 2m1/2f this time.

He was idling and probably value for further than the winning margin last time, so there is every chance that he can give weight and a beating to Tripoli Flyer.

15:10 Hereford - Saisissante @ 11/2

The 2m mares' handicap hurdle (15:10) at Hereford provides a good opportunity for SAISISSANTE, who has run only three times over hurdles and has improved her Racing Post Rating with all three of those starts.

She put a low-key hurdles debut at Stratford firmly behind her when running away with a juvenile hurdle at Ludlow by seven and a half lengths in November 2023 and she was even better in defeat at Newbury the following month.

Saisissante was beaten 14 lengths into third on that occasion, but it was a commendable effort in Listed company, especially given that she powered through the race on the bridle and travelled particularly strongly. She didn't get home up Newbury's galloping straight, but will be better suited by this tight track.

The four-year-old goes without the blinkers she wore then, but this is her first run of the year and she will probably be fizzed up enough not to need headgear.

Saisissante is unexposed and has more to offer on her handicap bow.

15:55 Dundalk - Daamberdiplomat @ 3/1

The 6f handicap (15:55) should go to DAAMBERDIPLOMAT, who was impressive when winning over course and distance last time and has a good chance of following up, having been raised only 6lb in the weights.

Daamberdiplomat beat the reopposing Harry's Bar by a length and a half on that occasion and looks capable of confirming the places, even on the new terms.

That's because the selection's rider, Rory Mulligan, claims 7lb and that, in effect, puts his mount on a mark 1lb lower than when last successful.

Daamberdiplomat equalled his career-best last time, so is evidently at the top of his form, and had only to be pushed out hands and heels.

He therefore probably had a bit more in hand than it looked and he rates a solid bet.
