5.45 Leopardstown - Little Jo @ SP

There are some promising young riders with mounts in the Ryan’s Cleaning Apprentice Handicap (5.45) and Siobhan Rutledge is one of those with more experience. That could be key and she is fancied to steer home LITTLE JO to what would be his third win of the season.

The nine-year-old was trained by Gemma Tutty in Britain until being moved to John McConnell's yard before his last outing and he scored at Redcar and Nottingham in May for his former stable. Those victories were achieved on good to soft and heavy, so soft going suits.

Little Jo made a low-key Irish debut for McConnell at Bellewstown this month when beating only two home, but he was slowly away from a wide draw and always on the back foot after.

He is capable of better than that for his new stable and can bounce back to form in what doesn’t look like a strong race for the grade. A reproduction of his British runs may do it.

6.50 Leopardstown - No Niki No @ SP

The Dublin To Bahrain Handicap (6.50) is a good opportunity for NO NIKI NO, who has made a flying start to her career in Ireland since making the move from France for Eoghan O’Neill.

The seven-year-old won two of her last three starts on the continent and built on her promising reappearance fifth at the Curragh when scoring over course and distance in June.

No Niki No did well to win that day as she jumped the road and could easily have fallen, but she recovered nicely and never looked in any danger in the straight. She kept on strongly to win by a comfortable length and a quarter and was probably value for more than the margin.

She wouldn’t have been suited by dropping to 7f at the Curragh last time and was off the bridle early, but she stuck to the task well and was awarded a career-best Racing Post Rating.

The return to this two-furlong longer trip at this track will definitely be in her favour and No Niki No has more to offer under Declan McDonagh, who rode her to her win here last month.

7.25 Leopardstown - Trustyourinstinct @ SP

The feature Aer Lingus College Football Classic Meld Stakes (7.25) is a good little Group 3 contest and by far the most exciting horse in the line up is the unbeaten TRUSTYOURINSTINCT.

The son of Churchill had a subsequent winner behind in third when running away with a 1m2f maiden at the Curragh on his debut and he confirmed that promise at Gowran last time.

Trustyourinstinct had shown signs of greenness when successful at the Curragh and that was still in evidence at Gowran, but he was still on the bridle entering the final two furlongs and pulled right away from there to win by two and three-quarter lengths. It was easy.

This is a stronger race and he will need to improve again to make his mark in Group company, but Trustyourinstinct has plenty of scope for further progress, especially if he learns to race more professionally. It will be disappointing if he can’t go three-from-three.
