Horse racing tips: Prairie Wolf to build on Cheltenham showing

2.50 Catterick - Prairie Wolf @ 6/4

The 2m3f handicap chase (2.50) at Catterick looks like a good opportunity for PRAIRIE WOLF, who drops significantly in class after finishing fourth in a hot race at Cheltenham last time.

Prairie Wolf finished a place ahead of Bowtogreatness on that occasion and that horse went on to finish third in the big race at Kempton on Saturday, so the form is particularly strong.

The winner, Ginny's Destiny, is among the favourites for the Turners and here Prairie Wolf runs in a Class 3 handicap chase against novices. He should have a class edge off top weight.

Prairie Wolf runs off the same mark here, just 6lb higher than when successful in a hot race at Doncaster in December on his second chase start, and there should be plenty more to come.

Graeme Rodway's tip:

Prairie Wolf @ 6/4 - 1pt win

4.20 Catterick - Twoshotsoftequila @ 2/1

The 3m1f handicap chase (4.20) at Catterick is another race which can go to the top weight because TWOSHOTSOFTEQUILA appears to have an outstanding chance now he is down in class.

The seven-year-old was an eye-catching third behind Saturday's big-race winner Forward Plan in a 3m handicap chase at Doncaster in December. He did all of his best work in the closing stages that day to get within four lengths of the winner and is able to run off 1lb lower here.

Twoshotsoftequila went off a well-fancied 9/1 chance for the Great Yorkshire Chase at Doncaster in January and finished down the field in 12th. But he was beaten 28 lengths by the winner on that occasion and is definitely better than he was able to show. The run is forgiven.

This is a significantly easier task against only five rivals in a much less-competitive contest and Twoshotsoftequila should be capable of bouncing back under top rider Brian Hughes.

Graeme Rodway's tip:

Twoshotsoftequila @ 2/1 - 1pt win

4.28 Southwell - Nikki's Girl @ SP

The mile fillies' handicap (4.28) kicks off the action at Southwell and the one to be on is NIKKI'S GIRL, who is now 1lb lower than for her last victory and is clearly well handicapped.

The Ed Dunlop-trained five-year-old is steadily returning to form and she ran her best race this year when fitted with first-time blinkers at Kempton this month. She kept on from off the pace, but her effort flattened out near the line in that handicap over 1m3f, a trip that stretches her.

Nevertheless, she still finished only two lengths behind the winner Page Three after racing away from the principals on the inside rail and that was a sign that she is returning to form.

All of her wins have come at up to 1m½f, so the return to this shorter trip is definitely in her favour and the blinkers are back on again. She should be hard to beat here off the same mark.
