2.05 Haydock - Maghlaak @ 15/8
The Tyldeseley Handicap (2.05) kicks things off at Haydock and it's worth taking a chance on the well-bred MAGHLAAK getting back to winning ways for in-form trainer Charlie Hills.
Maghlaak is by Muhaarar out of the top-class 1,000 Guineas winner Ghanaati and he showed plenty of promise of his own last season when winning two of his three starts in novice races.
He showed versatility to win on both the all-weather at Kempton, and turf at Goodwood, and returned following a winter break back at Goodwood last month to record another solid run.
Maghlaak stayed on strongly to finish third behind the in-form pair Time Interval and Bad Company and the form is working out well. The fourth, Honiton, is a subsequent winner and the fifth and sixth have both run sound races in defeat since. That bodes well for Maghlaak.
He races off the same mark of 86 here and remains open to plenty of further improvement provided he copes with this much quicker ground.
There is encouragement from his pedigree on that score as his dam Ghanaati acted on a fast surface, so Maghlaak is bred to do the same.

3.15 Haydock - Kape Moss @ 5/1
Trainer David Loughnane had a superb winter and he has a chance to make his mark in Listed company with KAPE MOSS, who is improving and capable of landing a first win in the grade.
Kape Moss rates a good bet to land the EBF British Stallion Studs Cecil Frail Stakes (3.15) following a hugely improved fourth in a Listed race at Newmarket when she was last seen.
The selection was taking a huge step up in class that day and finished only a length and three-quarters behind winner Azure Blue. That form looks strong as Azure Blue went on to land the Duke Of York next time out and the third, Perdika, has since run well again in defeat.
She handles fast ground well and comes into this race at the peak of her form, with her yard firing on all cylinders. It won't take much improvement for Kape Moss to score once again.

5.30 Haydock - Wadacre Gomez @ 6/1
The Join Racing TV Now Handicap (5.30) rounds off the Haydock card and it looks like a good opportunity for WADACRE GOMEZ to bounce back from his defeat last time at Redcar.
Wadacre Gomez was easy to back that day and never got into the race after missing the break. Maybe he didn't handle the soft ground and it's worth putting a line through the effort and giving him another chance, especially now that he is switched to a faster surface on turf.
The selection had previously looked good when slamming five rivals by three lengths in a 1m2f novice at Newcastle in April and a reproduction of that form would give him a chance.
Charlie Johnston's runners often excel on fast going and Wadacre Gomez has a big chance if bouncing back with Richard Kingscote booked. Kingscore rides Haydock better than most.
