3.20 Bangor - Whydah Gally @ 5/1

Joe Tizzard has scored with three of his past five runners and more good fortunes for the yard could be forthcoming with WHYDAH GALLY in the North Wales National at Bangor.

Whydah Gally capitalised on a lower chase mark when landing a similar marathon event at Lingfield 15 days ago and should go close if replicating that level of form. He pulled well clear of Surrey National winner Movethechains, a race in which he dug in admirably to fend off the challenge of the well-handicapped San Thomas-trained Jubilee Express.

The eight-year-old is up 6lb for that, but remains less exposed as a marathon chaser than a lot of these and is still 2lb lower than his hurdles mark. With the yard clicking into gear he should be bang there when it matters.

Whydah Gally @ 5/1 - 1pt win

3.35 Wincanton - Pedley Wood @ 9/4

Tizzard is taken to secure a quickfire across-the-card double with PEDLEY WOOD in the 3m1f handicap chase at Wincanton.

Pedley Wood has been in superb form this term, just coming unstuck in his hat-trick bid at Kempton last time behind a revitalised Gary Moore-trained winner who clearly benefited massively from a change to front-running tactics and first-time blinkers.

Still, it was another positive performance from Pedley Wood with 20 lengths back to the third, and the handicapper’s decision to raise him just 1lb can be punished.

The fact top-class conditional rider Freddie Gingell takes 5lb off cements confidence further and this unexposed chaser should have more improvement in the locker after just three starts over fences.

Robbie Wilders' tip:

Pedley Wood @ 9/4 - 1pt win

3.50 Bangor - Pitwood Road @ 6/5

Irish trainer Terence O’Brien’s British raids are always worth a second look and PITWOOD ROAD should go close if taking to hurdles on her first start in this sphere.

Pitwood Road landed an Ayr bumper in excellent style 15 days ago to take O’Brien’s record in Britain to 2-5 over the past five years and 1-1 this campaign.

The six-year-old took well to first-time blinkers that day and the aid is retained, as is her association with top jockey Brian Hughes.

The standard setter on Racing Post Ratings, Strong Belle, has had her limitations exposed, meeting with defeat on all four of her hurdles starts and arriving with a moderate BHA rating of 107.

She is vulnerable to something above average and Pitwood Road gives the impression she will be a cut above that sort of level as a hurdler (her peak bumper RPR supersedes Strong Belle’s best over hurdles), and any odds against about her appeals as a perfectly fair wager.

Robbie Wilders' tip:

Pitwood Road @ 6/5 - 1pt win
