Horse racing tips: Gidleigh Park can shake up the Irish in Baring Bingham

The enticing offer of non-runner no bet is now available outside of the championship races at the Cheltenham Festival with bet365 and Racing Post tipster Graeme Rodway is back with his best bets.

Graeme Rodway's tips

Baring Bingham Novices' Hurdle - Gidleigh Park @ 9/1

Brown Advisory Novices' Chase - Grey Dawning @ 6/1

Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle - Captain Teague @ 12/1

Baring Bingham Novices' Hurdle - Gidleigh Park @ 9/1

The last six runnings of this Grade 1 have gone to Ireland, but the trend might be bucked this year because Harry Fry has an outstanding runner in the shape of the unbeaten GIDLEIGH PARK.

Fry saddled Neon Moon to finish second to Willoughby Court in 2017, the last time the race went to the British, and Gidleigh Park is just as exciting as his former stablemate this season.

The six-year-old won his first two starts over hurdles by wide margins at Exeter and Newbury, but it was his performance at Cheltenham last weekend that impressed me.

He won by only half a length, but had looked in trouble when being headed on the run to the last and did remarkably well to come back and win going away, finding plenty for pressure.

The selection recorded a solid time on that occasion and the experience he gained on the track should bring him on. He is a big, scopey type who can make the improvement that is needed.

Graeme Rodway's tip:

Gidleigh Park @ 9/1 - 1pt win

Brown Advisory Novices' Chase - Grey Dawning @ 6/1

Plenty of Dan Skelton's runners needed their first runs of the season and GREY DAWNING was no exception when third behind Stay Away Fay on his chasing debut at Exeter. The seven-year-old should be unbeaten in three runs since and is capable of reversing that form.

Grey Dawning beat the smart Gaillard Du Mesnil and Apple Away easily at Haydock in November and would have seen off Ginny's Destiny at Cheltenham the following month but for a bad mistake two out. That rival franked the form by scoring at Cheltenham on Saturday.

The step up to three-miles at Warwick last month brought further improvement from Grey Dawning as he slammed Apple Away by 14-lengths in a good time, and there should be more to come.

Grey Dawning doesn't always impress with his jumping, but went around Cheltenham fine bar that mistake two out a couple of starts ago and any progress in that department will help.

Graeme Rodway's tip:

Grey Dawning @ 6/1 - 1pt win

Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle - Captain Teague @ 12/1

If there is a race that has been underestimated in Britain this season it is the 2m5f Grade 2 at Cheltenham in November, in which Minella Missile beat CAPTAIN TEAGUE and The Big Doyen.

Plenty of people wrote off Captain Teague following that defeat, but he ran a solid time that day and was attempting to give 5lb to the winner, who had looked smart at Chepstow before.

I'm willing to wager that the Cheltenham race is a lot stronger than many people think and Captain Teague gave substance to that view when landing the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle at Newbury in December. He comfortably saw off Greatwood runner-up Lookaway that day.

Captain Teague travelled powerfully and only did just enough when hitting the front, so there should be plenty of further progress to come, especially as he goes up to 3m for the first time.

Paul Nicholls won this race last season with Stay Away Fay and Captain Teague has achieved more than that stablemate at this stage of his career. That bodes well for his chance here.

Graeme Rodway's tip:

Captain Teague @ 12/1 - 1pt win
