The bet365-sponsored Fillies' Mile is the feature on ITV4 on Friday and Racing Post tipster Graeme Rodway returns with his best bets on the card.
1.50 Newmarket - Miaharris @ 9/1
2.25 Newmarket - Chic Colombine @ 4/1
4.10 Newmarket - Caught U Looking @ 11/1
The first thing to say about Newmarket this Friday is that there is around 20mm of rain forecast to fall at the track in the morning and that could bring a significant ease in the going.
Provided they get the forecast precipitation, there is a good chance that Miaharris can get back on track in the Newmarket Academy Godolphin Beacon Project Cornwallis Stakes (1.50).
The lightly-raced daughter of Zoustar won her first two outings over 5f and her second victory at Newbury was a remarkable performance. She did everything wrong and looked in big trouble inside the final furlong before producing an astounding burst to get up on the line.
She looked certain to be suited by a step up to 6f at Salisbury last time, but almost certainly found the ground too quick when trailing home only eighth of 12. She never got into the race. That poor run can be ignored and there is every chance she can bounce back on softer ground.
The Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes (2.25) comes up next and Chic Colombine is on a roll. She is well suited by 7f on soft ground and is fancied to complete the five-timer.
The George Boughey-trained runner is thriving and has improved her Racing Post Rating with every start. Her best effort came last time when she won a 7f fillies' event at Goodwood.
Chic Colombine powered through that race and impressed with the way she scythed through the field before going away to win by three-quarters of a length. The front two pulled four lengths clear of the rest of the field in what was a solid time for the grade for a juvenile.
This is stronger, but Chic Colombine has loads more to offer and is evidently well suited by soft ground. Although she is equally effective on quicker conditions if the rain stays away.
Chic Colombine @ 4/1 - 1pt win
The bet365 Fillies' Mile (4.10) is the feature race and Shuwari is the right favourite after an eye-catching second over 7f in the Rockfel last time, when she was left with too much to do.
However, the market hasn't missed her and the one to be on at the overnight prices is Caught U Looking for top jumps trainer Noel Meade and Ireland's champion jockey Colin Keane, who is here for just one ride.
Caught U Looking has looked like an outstanding filly on her last two starts. She bolted up by five lengths, beating a dual subsequent winner, in a 7f maiden at Leopardstown in July and improved on that when back from a 66-day break to land a Group 3 at the Curragh last time.
That looked like hard work, but they finished fast and she probably did well to win as she wouldn't have been suited by the test of speed over 7f. She needed every yard of the distance.
Caught U Looking is open to loads of improvement going up to a mile, she is well suited by ease in the ground, and could spring a surprise provided that the forecast rain materialises.
Caught U Looking @ 11/1 - 1pt each-way
1.50 Newmarket - Miaharris @ 9/1
2.25 Newmarket - Chic Colombine @ 4/1
4.10 Newmarket - Caught U Looking @ 11/1
