There are three live ITV4 races at Beverley on Saturday to support the coverage at Haydock, including the bet365 Two Year Old Trophy Conditions Stakes.
The latest horse racing betting tips for Beverley from Racing Post tipster Robbie Wilders.
2:05 Beverley - Maw Lam @ 9/2
2:40 Beverley - Regal Gem @ 4/1
3:15 Beverley - Eligible @ 8/1
2:05 Beverley - Maw Lam @ 9/2
The Hilary Needler is always a difficult race to assess as we have precious little form to go off, but the most taking debut effort came from MAW LAM and she could be the answer in a competitive race.
Adrian Nicholls is establishing himself as a good trainer of sprinters and Maw Lam, despite missing the break first time out at Thirsk, got the job done in ready fashion, making up substantial ground quickly and only dossing when in front to cosily repel a short-priced favourite.
That was the re-opposing Mademoiselle, who’d already had the benefit of a recent run, and the near-length gap between the pair is expected to widen further. The selection will know more this time and rates as a fine prospect.
2:40 Beverley - Regal Gem @ 4/1
The bet365 Two Year Old Trophy looks more straightforward with only six runners declared and the early favourite is a newcomer.
That is Shareholder, who is an obvious type on pedigree and connections (owners Wathnan Racing have been firing in juvenile winners left, right and centre of late), but the claims of REGAL GEM are more persuasive.
The Tony Coyle and Kaine Wood-trained runner might be underestimated in the betting due to his connections and he recorded the best debut Topspeed figure in this field when putting a 16-runner Pontefract maiden to bed in good style over 6f two weeks ago.
That form is untested, although he readily dealt with several interesting types from top yards and it’s unlikely he’ll be inconvenienced by dropping back to this stiff 5f.
3:15 Beverley - Eligible @ 8/1
Tropez Power is early favourite for the bet365 Handicap over 7½f at Beverley, but that doesn’t quite add up on a line through ELIGIBLE, who looks overpriced.
These two contested a deeper handicap than this at York when last seen and were fifth and seventh respectively, although Tropez Power had a slightly better trip and Eligible was denied a clear run when it mattered.
Only three-quarters of a length separated the pair on the Knavesmire but Eligible will be 2lb better off with Tropez Power and won’t mind running around Beverley, with two of his three best turf Racing Post Ratings being earned at Sandown, which provides a similar test.
The eight-year-old is 2lb below his last winning mark and won’t be far away granted luck in running under Joanna Mason.
