Horse Racing betting tips: Celebrations pending for Champagne Mystery

Kempton hosts three Grade 2s and a few cracking handicaps on Saturday and Robbie Wilders from the Racing Post provides his three best bets on the card.

Robbie Wilders' tips

1.15 Kempton - Sea Invasion @ 13/2
1.50 Kempton - Peking Opera @ 15/2
4.10 Kempton - Champagne Mystery @ 15/2

1.15 Kempton - Sea Invasion @ 13/2

bet365 are paying four places for the 2m5f handicap hurdle that opens the card at Kempton and SEA INVASION must have a big each-way shout for Chris Gordon.

Sea Invasion was beaten only two lengths by Slade Steel, who is second favourite for the Grade 1 Baring Bingham at the Cheltenham Festival, in a point-to-point before returning a beaten favourite on his debut for Gordon in a bumper.

He has been steadily progressive in three starts over hurdles, getting within a few lengths of Supreme fancy Jeriko Du Reponet before improving again when a close-up fourth in a strong maiden hurdle here over Christmas. The second and third have run out good winners since.

Sea Invasion enters handicaps of a potentially cracking mark of 114 and is carrying bottom weight against plenty of exposed rivals, so gets the nod under Rex Dingle.

Sea Invasion @ 13/2 - 1pt each-way

1.50 Kempton - Peking Opera @ 15/2

The Grade 2 Adonis Juvenile Hurdle sees a short-priced favourite in Kalif Du Berlais. While he ran out an impressive winner here on his first start for Paul Nicholls, he must carry a 5lb penalty and that might not be ideal against a horse as talented as PEKING OPERA is.

He can be backed at much bigger odds and has to be of interest as an unbeaten hurdler who finished fourth in the Irish Derby and won't mind a cut in the ground as a Listed winner on soft.

Peking Opera needs to build on his narrow success at Sandown on his hurdles debut but I expect him to, and he brings a touch of class to this division.

Considering he is rated 35lb higher on the Flat than second favourite Givemefive, who recorded a similar RPR to the selection on his first run over hurdles, it is easy to build a case that Peking Opera is being wrongly overlooked.

Robbie Wilders' tip:

Peking Opera @ 15/2 - 1pt win

4.10 Kempton - Champagne Mystery @ 15/2

CHAMPAGNE MYSTERY entered the notebook when fifth to Ga Law in a top handicap chase at Cheltenham last time and is taken to go four places better in the 2m4f handicap chase.

The 10-year-old was a smart horse for Nicky Henderson in his younger days and has maintained his form well in recent years, the majority of his runs coming in France.

Wind the clock back to October and this horse was finishing fourth in a French Grade 2. Debuting for the Tom George yard on his previous outing, Champagne Mystery was noted making a sweeping move three out that unsurprisingly tarnished his finishing effort.

If he can build on that he is capable of scoring off a 2lb lower mark. It is encouraging that Jonny Burke takes over in the saddle and an ease in the surface is what he needs.

Champagne Mystery @ 15/2 - 1pt win
