The British EBF Stallions Harry Rosebery Stakes (2.15) is one of the feature races at Ayr and it looks like a match between Purosangue and BEAUTIFUL DIAMOND.
Preference is for the Karl Burke-trained Beautiful Diamond, who has been keeping hotter company than she faces here.
The daughter of Twilight Son was beaten only by Crimson Advocate and Relief Rally when third in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and she ran another cracking race at York last time.
She finished only fifth that day and was again no match for Relief Rally in that Group 2 Lowther Stakes, but there were still signs of inexperience and she didn’t see out six furlongs.
The return to this minimum 5f trip is definitely in Beautiful Diamond’s favour and, while she is unproven on ground this soft, her sire's progeny act any going. She should be fine on it.
Beautiful Diamond @ 2/1 - 1pt win
Jim Goldie always has his horses in top form at Ayr and that will be particularly true for their biggest Flat meeting of the season. He could land the Bronze Cup (3.25) with ROCK MELODY.
Goldie has six runners entered and jockey Paul Mulrennan has ridden all of them at one point or another in their recent outings.
The fact he chooses to partner Rock Melody looks significant and the four-year-old has been in good form in sprint handicaps recently.
Her best run came on Sunday at Musselburgh. She was turned over at 8/11 that day, but the winner Princess Karine is improving quickly and Rock Melody, who was second, came four and three-quarter lengths clear of the third.
That race was also run in a fast time for the grade.
That was over 5f, but Rock Melody was unlucky not to win over course and distance in July when finishing strongly for third after finding trouble in running and the 6f trip suits her well.

The Racing Partnership Handicap Chase (3.45) is one of the best races at Newton Abbot and JANESLITTLEVOICE should be capable of getting her reward for a string of consistently good runs.
She is still a maiden after 13 starts, but there’s no doubt a move to new trainer Ella Pickard has brought about improvement and her latest effort over course and distance was her best.
Janeslittlevoice was beaten only half a length by hot favourite Ya Know Yaseff on that occasion and the front two pulled 35 lengths clear of the rest in a good time for the grade.
She races off the same mark and heavy ground will suit as her three highest Racing Post Ratings are on soft or heavy ground, including her highest on heavy at Chepstow in 2020.
Janeslittlevoice @ 11/8 - 1pt win
Back to Ayr and division two of the Tennent's Lager Handicap (4.35) could be another one for Goldie because he has an outstanding chance with the in-form and consistent performer AYR POET.
The eight-year-old has finished in the first three on his last six outings and among those efforts are two victories at this track, including one success over course and distance.
Ayr Poet is only 3lb higher than for his last win at the track last month and he has run well twice in defeat since.
He finished third over 1m2f at this course just five days after that last victory and improved on that effort to take second in a 1m1f handicap at Carlisle last time.
He acts on any ground, won't have a problem with the drop to a mile, and will evidently be well suited by returning to Ayr. Another big run is on the cards with Mulrennan up again.
