14:10 Southwell - Robusto @ SP

The first of three British staying races on Sunday takes place at Southwell and Robusto is taken to land the 1m6f event (14:10).

Sir Mark Prescott extracted plenty of improvement out of Robusto as a three-year-old last term but, on the evidence of his stable debut for Eve Johnson Houghton, he might have improved again (Racing Post Ratings have that performance down as a career-best).

Robusto was weak in the market when second over this course and distance 19 days ago on his return, suggesting the run was needed following a long break, and he stayed on pleasingly enough on his first attempt at a trip this far.

He might just have too much class for his rivals on Sunday and can build on that positive introduction.

15:40 Southwell - Tenerife Sunshine @ SP

The other staying race at Southwell is the 2m contest (15:40). This rates as a good opportunity for the mega-consistent Tenerife Sunshine to deservedly get his head in front.

Tenerife Sunshine is up in class, but will have no weight on his back and has dropped to his last winning mark.

There were encouraging signs from the son of Lope De Vega at Lingfield on his previous outing (first at two miles) that staying races may be his true calling.

He shaped as if needing a stronger test of stamina that day and this race may offer exactly that. The four-year-old will be bang there if sustaining his recent level of form.

17:15 Wetherby - My Noble Lord @ SP

The final staying race comes at Wetherby and My Noble Lord, a stylish 1m4f winner on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton recently, is taken to notch another success in the 1m6f handicap (5.15).

My Noble Lord was a backwards juvenile and clearly made giant strides in the winter, as he impressed at Wolverhampton, where he capitalised on a lowly handicap mark of 56.

An extra two furlongs, along with the switch to turf with some cut in it, can see this well-bred son of Noble Mission defy a 9lb higher mark.

He is bred to be much better than his revised rating and is well positioned to keep climbing through the ranks after such an impressive reappearance.
